Vehicle Description This tough Toyota is one of the most capable SUVs ever built.
Born from practicality and wartime necessity, the Land Cruiser began life as a reverse-engineered Bantam GP that Toyota assembled for the imperial Japanese Army.
The truck's rugged construction and tidy proportions proved extremely useful when it came to transporting soldiers, towing equipment, and all-terrain motoring.
And it eventually, circa 1953, Toyota decided to market its proven creation directly to market it's proven creation directly to civilians.

The engine was rebuilt as part of the restoration and includes a rebuilt Rochester 2G 2-Jet carburetor; factory dry type air cleaner housing; new wiring and hoses throughout; headers and dual EverStart batteries with a Perco control switch.
DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Manual steering provides the kind of vintage feedback that excites off-roading purists.
Big drum Brakes bring everything to a halt.
Rebuilt factory 3-speed manual puts the power to the rear wheels.
The truck's chassis is supported by a pair of solid axles, factory spec 6-leaf suspension, and a set of Rancho RS5000 performance shock absorbers.
The FJ retains a factory exhaust pipe and an aftermarket muffler.
Slotted, painted white steel wheels are covered with factory stainless steel caps.
Front spindles support factory locking hubs.
INTERIOR The Interior was restored to it's original specs.
All gauges were refurbished and work properly.
The Dashboard is color-matched to the exterior and a replacement dash pad was installed.
Below that dash is a duo of shifters, one for the 3-speed and one for the 4-wheel drive, surrounded by replacement black carpet.
A factory-issue steering wheel completes the dash area.
The full roll cage was stripped and painted, with padding added all around.
Original front buckets and rear fold down-benches have replacement padding and two-tone grey vinyl covering with cloth inserts, looks very nice.
Behind the front seats lies an optional rear floor heater, which are rare.
BODY The FJs original body was worked all the way to bare metal, then re-sprayed in its factory Dune Beige.
All panels and lines are straight.
A replacement black soft top (with canvas doors and zip down plastic windows) was fabricated and the original steel hard top also was restored along with the steel doors included in the sale.
All exterior mechanical hardware was refurbished and latches properly.
All lights were re-wired and lenses were replaced with OEM parts.
