Being close to my retirement as a Registered Nurse, I would
like to transition to become a medical transcriptionist.



 



My qualifications to do the job as a medical
transcriptionist:




  1. Knowledge of computer software programs such as
    Microsoft Words and Excel

  2. Ability to type a minimum of at least 65 wpm
    with good accuracy.

  3. Knowledge of English language, grammar,
    spelling, use of punctuations with emphasis on medical terminology in the field
    of anatomy and physiology, medical specialty such orthopedics, pediatric nursing,
    obstetrics and delivery, surgery, patient’s medical history and patient’s
    discharge

  4. Has attended a class and was awarded a
    Certificate of Mastery of Medical Transcription-Advanced by TechSkills of San
    Francisco, CA.

RN, NURSE EVALUATOR, CALIFORNIA DEPT OF EHALTH SERVICES

  • Responsible for the utilization review function
    and conduction activities to evaluate/assure that services being rendered to
    beneficiaries are appropriate, meet the beneficiary’s medical needs are of a
    quality in nature. Activities include assessment of the beneficiary, the home
    environment, and a review of appropriate medical records.

  • Performs Medi-Cal case management activities
    which include Treatment Authorization Request processing, identification of
    change in case status, problem resolution, coordination of case conference,
    home health agency meetings, and maintenance of appropriate documentation.

  • Performs case development, review, approval or
    denial of applicants for the waiver program, makes onsite visits and medical
    record reviews to evaluate, summarize and make a recommendation of the
    patient’s level of care and medical and nursing needs.

  • Conducts surveys of healthcare facilities to
    determine compliance with State licensing and Federal certification
    requirements.

    facilities’ residents, staffs and other relevant personnel. Requests and review
    resident medical files for legal action while ensuring patient confidentiality.

  • Makes a determination of healthcare facilities’
    compliance with State and Federal laws and regulations based on survey findings
    and observations.

  • Prepares written comprehensive narrative reports
    of findings including conclusions and recommendations and prepare written
    statements of deficiencies when deemed appropriate.









Reason for leaving: Moved to
