Key Responsibilities
The incumbent is responsible for evaluation and development of new color measurement tools to improve color matching capability of solid as well as effect colors. Researches and develops color mathematics and algorithms for color related paint formulations. Works in partnership with equipment vendors to develop and test new technology. Creates, pilots and commercializes highly efficient color measurement processes across all global aerospace color matching locations to improve productivity. Designs, implements and standardizes color measurement procedures and policies. The incumbent is responsible to prepare calibration panels to establish valid calibration files in different product lines. Creates, implements, maintains and provides training on Global Color Management Systems. The incumbent is able to develop and teach color theory to internal as well as external customers. Demonstrates ability to independently plan and coordinate activities related to color modeling and instrumentation. Provides solutions related to color measuring equipment and color software. The incumbent will represent PPG at appropriate professional and trade organizations and seminars and attends trainings, workshops and keeps current on technical literature. Participates and /or lead research projects with other business units. Interacts with laboratories and research centers on various research projects. The incumbent will observe records, investigate, duplicate and validate successful test procedures. Performs other lab tasks as assigned. Participates in lab's 5S activities. Complies with Health, Safety and Environmental requirements and procedures at all times.
Experience and Education
Must have an MS or a Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Color Science or related discipline in Color Science and instrumentation. At least 2 years of experience in statistics, engineering, physics or optics. Moderate understanding of Calculus and Linear Algebra. Solid understanding of color theory and relevant light physics
Functional and Technical Skills
Must have a high attention to details and able to effectively communicate in English. Must be able to use and wear all required safety equipment and clothing. Must be able to effectively operate color measuring equipment and record results of experiments. Must be able to successfully pass a color blindness test. Minimum travel may be required

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
