The Walt Disney Company's Corporate Legal Department seeks to hire a lawyer to join its Digital Media Antipiracy group and combat piracy of its digital content worldwide.
The Corporate Legal Department of The Walt Disney Company is seeking an accomplished intellectual property lawyer for its Digital Media Antipiracy group.
This position offers a rare opportunity to join an in-house legal team to work on substantive intellectual property legal issues, antipiracy strategy, and live content enforcement.
Prior in-house experience is not required.
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience with laws governing the enforcement of intellectual property rights, in particular, in the US and Latin America; contract drafting; and legal and technological issues relating to Internet investigations and online enforcement.

Responsibilities:
Manage online VOD and live event enforcement initiatives, with a particular focus on the US and Latin America to help protect the business interests of ESPN and Star+.
Manage includes assisting in the development of the Company's digital media enforcement strategies, meaningful participation in matters from initial investigation to conclusion, and supervising the work of outside counsel.
Work closely with internal business stakeholders, industry partners, legal and technology vendors, individual subject-matter experts across the Company, and outside counsel.
Stay abreast of a rapidly changing legal, policy, and technology landscape.
Exhibit diplomacy, strategic thinking, attention to detail, and exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to execute efficiently against multiple high-priority and high-volume projects.
Basic
Qualifications:
Minimum five (5) years of practice experience at a law firm or a combination of law firm and in-house work, preferably handling intellectual property litigation/antipiracy matters and licensing.
Excellent interpersonal, writing, and analytical skills.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Spoken and written proficiency in Latin American Spanish, with further proficiency in Portuguese a plus.
Experience with live sports enforcement and related distribution agreements.
Knowledge of international intellectual property frameworks.
Required Education:

The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
Salary:
$169,500.
00 - $219,200.
00 per year.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
